Chilworth Manor Still Rosé 2023 & 2024 - Product Information

Chilworth Manor Still Rosé 2024

  • Grape Variety: Pinot Noir (71%), Pinot Meunier (29%)
  • Vintage: 2024
  • Alcohol: 11%

Tasting Notes:
The 2024 vintage is beautifully pale in colour, with notes of rose petals and strawberries with cream on the nose. On the palate it’s fresh and elegant, revealing hints of rhubarb. Perfect served as an apéritif or for al fresco dining.

2024 Growing Season:
Despite a record number of warm growing days from March to May in the Surrey Hills, and an early, frost-free budburst, the 2024 season was marked by wildly variable weather - cold winds, heavy rain, and extreme heat often in the same week. These conditions heightened disease pressure, prompting early interventions like Green Harvests to help the remaining grapes ripen fully. A later-than-usual harvest followed, yielding fewer but clean and high-quality bunches.

To adapt to the varieties of the English weather in 2024 and the presence of malic acid in the grapes, this vintage has undergone malolatic fermentation. Compared to the 2023 vintage, the 2024 release is notably smoother and just as refined, ideal for pairing with food and equally enjoyable on its own.

2023 Growing Season:
We knew from early summer 2023 of the huge potential for this vintage crop. The average number of bunches per vine forming after flowering was consistently higher across the varieties than in previous years and their considerable sizes and weights were very evident as the season progressed. Spring and budburst arrived with minimal frost, and we only had to deploy the Frost Protection system a couple of times. The abundant sunshine and warmth in May and June led to an ideal period of flowering and fruit set.

Compared to the 2024 release, the 2023 vintage is crisper and more acidic, serving perfect as an aperitif.
