English Wine Week is a celebration organised by WineGB from the 20th - 28th of June, an ideal opportunity to get to know English Wines better as vineyards and retailers highlight the many fantastic wines that are readily available for you to enjoy. There are over 750 vineyards in the UK and just over 230 of those are in the South East.
Normally this week would be a great time to visit vineyards and join in with the many events on offer, but this year it has all moved online, well mostly ...
With other members of the Vineyards of the Surrey Hills we have teamed up with John Mobbs from Great British Wine for an online tasting !
Join us on Instagram (@GreatBritishWine) on 26th June at 7pm for a LIVE tasting featuring special appearances from the five Vineyards of the Surrey Hills producers (Albury Organic Vineyard, Denbies Wine Estate, Greyfriars Vineyard, High Clandon and us). Our Rosé will be tasted around 7.15 pm
It promises to be an interesting and interactive 45 minutes. We invite you to join in and post some tasting notes of your own. Don't forget to tag us @ChilworthManorVineyard and @SurreyVineyards
The one visit we did have this week was from Nik Darlington who is doing a 100K English Wine Week Challenge running between vineyards on the North and South Downs in aid of The Drinks Trust.
Nik explained, “I hope to raise awareness of our hidden winelands, much of which is easily accessible by footpath, and get people out walking, running, cycling and generally exploring the terroir of English wine itself.
Nik visited us on his second leg of his challenge, running in the North Downs.
