Chilworth Manor Rosé will be on the wine list again at next year's Grange Park Opera season running from June to July 2019 at West Horsley Place.
In less than two decades, Grange Park Opera has established itself as one of Europe’s leading opera festivals. In 2017 the company relocated to West Horsley Place, Surrey, and in eleven months built a five-storey opera house modelled on La Scala, Milan. The Times Arts Awards acknowledged the achievement as the “Fastest construction of an opera house in history”.
A demi-Eden of glowing brick façades, framed by ancient box hedges and walled gardens, sits in the midst of a 300-acre estate slumbering in the Surrey countryside. Behind the 15th Century house, a walled ancient orchard opens into a woodland: the setting for the opera house – the Theatre of the Woods.
West Horsley Place was inherited in 2015 by author Bamber Gascoigne from his aunt Mary, Duchess of Roxburghe. He gifted the estate to the Mary Roxburghe Trust.
